The New PBM Blueprint: Building Rightway's PBM with Scott Musial
Listen now
In the second episode of The New PBM Blueprint, host Joe Chamberlin sits down with Scott Musial, President of Rightway, to walk through how he actually built Rightway's PBM, from a signed offer letter to a live client in about three and a half months. Scott explains how Thrive Capital's search for a disruptive pharmacy benefit model led him to Rightway CEO Jordan Feldman, why he insisted on financial alignment and member centricity before any contract was written, and how he handed Kristen Devlin a client with no claims system and no formulary in place, and a June 1 go-live date already set.
He describes the moment their first client agreed to be the platform's alpha, on the condition he wasn't the second or third company to attempt it, and connects that bet to the pharmacy navigation model Rightway runs today. Scott also links the model back to his years as an independent pharmacy owner and his work building Medicare MTM programs, and explains why he thinks legacy PBMs are structurally unable to replicate it.
